Our Story

Canada, a land of endless possibilities, a key to turn your dreams into reality.

When our application for permanent residence for Canada was approved, we thought that our days of struggle for a good life were over. We landed in Toronto in the spring of 2016, with butterflies in our stomach & a glimmer of hope in our eyes to “make it big” here in Canada in our own way.

Little did we know that a different kind of struggle was waiting for us here. First and the biggest hurdle was housing. Without any friends or relatives in Canada, we had a hard time finding a rental accommodation, We had to book a hotel room and for lack of better option, we ended up staying there for almost two months. We were also clueless about the various services and benefits the Canadian government providedv, thus we wasted almost three months in keeping up with the various formalities and obligations. This was a high setback for our job search, and the money we brought from back home was fast depleting.

With so many obstacles, we had to finalize a rental apartment in a hurry, which later turned out, was full of bugs and without adequate ventilation. We regretted our decision and started having second thoughts about making big here.

We were feeling very disheartened without any mode of transport which was important to travel far off places for interviews, searching for accommodation and for our social life. It was a vicious circle, and we had no hope of coming out. We decided to apply for driver’s licence which, it turned out, was another roadblock with different set of rules and requirements.

We lived without a job for 4 months, but had a better place to live with great people who helped us in every possible way. They guided our steps. 9 months later we bought our first car & in 2 years we had our own house with 2 cars.

Time has passed, we are on our feet. Now, this is our place where we were able to put a roof over our heads. Where we had our little girl. We made friends. There is no looking back!

We thank Canada for opportunities that it has given us and will be forever grateful. We decided to start Brown Suitcase so that no other newcomer had to face the difficulties that we had to face.

Not only that, but we have guided our friends and their friends. We have developed a vast social and professional circle here in Canada to guide you in every possible way. We both love to explore places in and around Canada.
